How does a mutation in DNA cause a disease like sickle cell anemia?

If a woman has two X chromosomes, how do we know which X chromosome each of her offspring has? She received one X from her mother and one X from her father. Will her offspring receive the X from her mother or the X from her father? Is there a 50/50 chance of either? Or does it depend upon the offspring's sex- i.e. females receive X chromosome donated from grandmother, males receive X chromosome donated from grandfather? Do we know for sure?

I am a female carrier of a red/green colorblind gene and have read that there is a probability of 1/2 of having an affected son if the father has normal vision. I have four sons and all four are red/green colorblind. Why don’t two have normal vision?

I have learned about codominance, but are there some codominant traits in humans? For example, do some humans have one blue eye and one green eye, or are these traits just incomplete dominance?

My mother is A blood group, my father is O blood group and I'm O blood group. I thought that my mother’s A blood group would always dominate my father’s O blood group, so I would have to be an A blood group. Could you let me know if this is the case please?

I read on your site that a recessive trait is often the result of a broken gene. I can’t seem to figure out why a broken gene would lead to the green peas in Mendel’s famous experiment. Do they know why yellow is dominant over green?
