2018 Yeast CRISPR Results

The results of your experiment are below! Find the date you did your experiment and see if you can find your plate.

Did your experiment work?

The red colonies have the yeast where you changed the instructions in the ADE2 gene in yeast's DNA so the yeast are red instead of white. Cas9 was able to find the right spot in the yeast's DNA!

If you see something that's fuzzy and weirdly shaped, you might have gotten contaminated with mold! Mold is all around us, and sometimes it falls into the plates, where it can grow into cool shapes.

It looks like today's yeast didn't grow very well! There could be several reasons for this, but the most likely answer is that we didn't put enough yeast in the liquid you spread on the plates. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to try the experiment again!

Feel free to browse through the plates from previous days to get an idea of what the experiment normally looks like.

We've been having technical difficulties with the yeast! Sometimes our science experiments don't work as well as we hope... Even though we may not have your plate, you can look through some previous plates to get an idea what the results look like.
