Can first cousin DNA testing identify relatedness when more than two prospective living first cousins are available for testing? In my particular case all three individuals are male (I am one of them), the other two may be sons of my mother's sister and brother respectively. I understand that testing between two first cousins is not very reliable and am wondering if having a 3rd increases reliability in any noticeable way.

My aunt (50 years old) was recently diagnosed with aplastic anemia. She comes from a family of eight children. All seven of her siblings were tested to see who would be a bone marrow donor match. One match was found, and some of the other siblings were matches with each other.
I am wondering what makes siblings donor matches with each other over other siblings. I understand that it is in their genetic makeup and that they have a 25% chance of being a match with each sibling. Please let me know if you can clarify for me what would make a closer match between some siblings than between others.

How is DNA tested in people who died in accidents like a plane crash where their body is completely burnt? And who do they test their DNA against because they might be from different countries and far from the accident site? Is their DNA tested against/with their parents only?

Is it worthwhile to get my own full genome done (since it’s only around $2000 these days)?

Hello, I did an African mtDNA ancestry test in hopes of pinpointing a tribe of my African lineage (that's what the company claimed they do). I'm an African-American woman. I received my results and it said that my lineage was of European descent, non-African. What does this mean? I was very confused because I'm clearly black as are my parents and grandparents before them. Does that mean there is no African in me at all or that they just didn't find it?

I was reading about how they used DNA to identify the body of Richard III in England. How could they use 600 year old DNA to identify him?

I have heard that a paternity test would have trouble telling a brother/sister relationship from a mother/son one. Is that true? If so, why is that? And are there any tests that could tell the two apart?

Are there any good prenatal paternity tests out there? I want something safe, reliable and easy to understand.

In a DNA test that looks at relationships, do siblings match at all or half of their loci?
